What To Do If Your Child Needs To Take Medicine at School

Taking Medicine At School

If your child is required by the doctor to take prescribed medication during the school day, or if you wish your child to take over-the-counter medicines, please follow these steps:

  1. Complete the Request For Medication To Be Taken During School Hours, which can be found here.
  2. Submit the completed form signed by your child’s doctor with the dose, schedule and method of administering the medication.
  3. Keep prescription medication in the original container. Over-the-counter medication must be labeled with the child’s name, dosage, and doctor’s name and phone number.

Students may not carry medications, including  over the counter products such as cough drops or Tylenol in backpacks or on their person.  All medications must be locked up in the Health Office.
